I have begun offering very limited Puppy S.T.A.R. classes this year with a few of my pals from the Idaho Capital City Kennel Club. And I have to admit, it is my favorite thing ever.

The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy is an exciting program designed to get dog owners and their puppies off to a good start.  Classes teach you how to best communicate with your new puppy in a a safe and structured environment, offer an opportunity for your dog to socialize appropriately with other dogs and people, answer your puppy-raising questions, and share gentle, effective ways to begin teaching practical, basic manners skills like walking on a leash and coming when called. We also introduce you to an array of dog sports that you and your puppy may enjoy as you grow together as a team.

Even if you’ve raised puppies before, this is a great opportunity to work with your puppy in a safe and supportive environment and explore the AKC S.T.A.R Puppy program. You will have the option to take the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test at the end of the course. All dogs are welcome to participate in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Program including purebreds and mixed breeds.
